Grande Prairie adds 15 new COVID-19 cases, 13 recoveries

There were 15 new cases of COVID-19 identified in the City of Grande Prairie on Tuesday along with 13 recoveries, bringing the active case total in the city to 162 as of the end of day March 16.

The County of Grande Prairie added five new cases and eight recoveries, dropping the number of active cases there to 62.

Across Alberta there were 479 new cases identified following the completion of approximately 10,800 tests. The province’s positivity rate sits at approximately 4.7 per cent.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day March 15 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 1,848 cases (162 active, 1,663 recovered, 23 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 544 cases (62 active, 479 recovered, three deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 433 cases (35 active, 395 recovered, three deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 12 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 48 cases (one active, 47 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 14 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 112 cases (102 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 467 cases (seven active, 449 recovered, 11 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 253 cases (two active, 251 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 481 cases (32 active, 449 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 58 cases (one active, 56 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 106 cases (105 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 240 cases (four active, 235 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 98 cases (two active, 96 recoveries)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,096 cases (185 active, 892 recovered, 19 deaths)

Hospitalizations rose to 262, up two from Monday. Of those there are 44 people in an ICU in Alberta with COVID-19.

There were four more deaths reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours. The provincial death toll now sits at 1,956.
