Storm win in return to home ice action

Mar 21, 2021 | 9:42 AM

Goaltender Joe Howe made 32 saves as the Grande Prairie Storm picked up a 3-1 win over the Drayton Valley Thunder on Saturday night.

The game was the first on Revolution Place ice for the Storm since November 14th.

After allowing a goal to Dylan Price on the Thunder’s first shot of the game, Howe slammed the door on Drayton Valley the remainder of the way, including several highlight-reel stops.

The Storm would take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission thanks to a short-handed goal from Carter Myrol and an even-strength marker by Paycen Bjorklund.

Cooper Connell added a third-period insurance goal for the Storm, who improved to 4-2-1 with the win and took over sole possession of second place in the AJHL North.

The Storm are right back in action on Sunday night when they host Whitecourt in a 6 pm start at Revolution Place.

A reminder that no fans are allowed to attend at this time.

The game can be seen on HockeyTV, as well as on Optik TV channel 1965 for Telus subscribers.
