Large amount of naturally occurring dead fish seen in Bear Creek: City
The City of Grande Prairie says they are aware of what they are calling a large amount of dead fish making their way into Bear Creek from Bear Lake, and that Alberta Fish and Wildlife are aware of the occurrence.
The city says the “naturally occurring” dead fish originated from Bear Lake, adding that Fish and Wildlife officials have determined the cause of death to be a lack of oxygen in the lake.
Officials add Fish and Wildlife were made aware of the dead fish on March 12.
The city adds dead fish may be seen in the creek over the coming weeks, which will have an odour associated with them. They say there is no danger to residents from the smell.
