County consults residents on weed legalization
The County of Grande Prairie is looking to hear possible concerns from residents regarding legalization of cannabis legislation.
Planning & Development Services Director Nick Lapp said a survey went live today for people to fill out online.
“We are looking at the impact to our land-use bylaw that will result around things like location of retail stores and opportunities to sell recreational cannabis,” he said.
“We want feedback on whether production facilities for medical or retail use for cannabis should be allowed in the county.”
The Government of Canada anticipates that recreational cannabis will be legal this summer, and land-use bylaws will have to change to accommodate the change.
