AHS prepares to launch Connect Care Wave 3 in North Zone

Alberta Health Services is preparing to launch Connect Care Wave 3 on the west side of the North Zone this weekend.

Connect Care is a clinical platform that supports AHS healthcare providers and enables Albertans to access other information through MyHealth.

AHS says the following 31 sites will be included:

• Beaverlodge Community Health Services
• Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital
• Bonaventure Gates, Edmonton
• Central Peace Health Complex, Spirit River
• Fairview Health Complex
• Fox Creek Healthcare Centre
• Grande Cache Community Health Complex
• Grande Cache Provincial Building
• Grande Prairie College and Community Health Centre
• Grande Prairie Lab Services
• Grimshaw Berwyn and District Community Health Centre
• High Prairie Health Complex
• Hythe Continuing Care Centre
• La Crete Community Health Centre
• La Crete Continuing Care Centre
• Manning Community Health Centre
• Manning Medical Clinic
• Northwest Health Centre, High Level
• Paddle Prairie Health Centre
• Peace Diagnostic Imaging, (Grande Prairie, La Crete, Peace River and High Prairie)
• Peace River Community Health Centre
• Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, Grande Prairie
• Rainbow Lake Community Health Services
• Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, McLennan
• Spirit River Public Health Centre
• St. Theresa General Hospital, Fort Vermilion
• Valleyview Health Centre
• Virene Building, Grande Prairie

The Chief Medical Officer for AHS, Dr. Francois Belanger, says this process will make it easier for patients to access important information.

“Eventually, a patient’s health information will be accessible from any AHS location in the province and will move with the patient through their care journey. It will give a patient and their healthcare team a more complete picture of their health history, access to consistent information on best practices, resources at their fingertips, and the ability to communicate with patients and each other more easily.”

Once the system is fully in place, Connect Care will be available wherever AHS provides care or is responsible for a person’s record care.

AHS says it plans to complete the project by 2023.
