Grade K-1 students from WRCS to shift to Alliance Church following fire

Apr 19, 2021 | 9:39 AM

Kindergarten and Grade 1 students at Whispering Ridge Community School will be shifting over to the Grande Prairie Alliance Church for in-person classes later this week, following a fire earlier this month that damaged the classrooms for those grades at the schools.

In a Facebook post from Friday, school officials say the church has also opened its doors for the County playschool program. A solidified start date for when those three classes will begin at the Alliance Church will be sent to families in the coming days.

School officials say Grades 2-8 will remain online for the time being, as cleanup and restoration work continues following the April 11 fire.

“The remaining areas of our school (west of the office) continue to be a focus for the restoration company and we remain hopeful that we will be regaining access to parts of our building in the near future,” says school administration in the Facebook post.
