Grande Prairie adds 31 new COVID-19 cases, 39 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded 31 new cases of COVID-19 and 39 recoveries for Friday, May 7, bringing the active case total in the City down by eight to 502.

The County of Grande Prairie added 11 new cases and saw 39 recoveries for Friday. There are now 172 active cases in the County.

Across Alberta, there were 2,042 new cases identified following the completion of 18,809 tests, resulting in a 10.8 per cent test positivity rate.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day May 7 are as follows:

• City of Grande Prairie: 3,595 cases (502 active, 3,067 recovered, 26 deaths)
• County of Grande Prairie: 1,253 cases (172 active, 1,076 recovered, five deaths)
• M.D. of Greenview: 535 cases (27 active, 504 recovered, four deaths)
• Birch Hills County: 21 cases (two active, 19 recovered)
• M.D. of Spirit River: 78 cases (five active, 73 recovered)
• Saddle Hills County: 26 cases (two active, 24 recovered)
• M.D. of Smoky River: 144 cases (eight active, 126 recovered, 10 deaths)
• Big Lakes County: 701 cases (62 active, 627 recovered, 12 deaths)
• M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 346 cases (46 active, 300 recovered)
• M.D. of Peace: 652 cases (93 active, 559 recovered)
• M.D. of Fairview: 120 cases (19 active, 100 recovered, one death)
• Clear Hills County: 134 cases (one active, 132 recovered, one death)
• Northern Sunrise County: 306 cases (five active, 300 recovered, one death)
• County of Northern Lights: 123 cases (nine active, 114 recovered)
• Mackenzie County: 1,689 cases (204 active, 1,461 recovered, 24 deaths)

Across the province, hospitalizations grew by two to 661, while ICU patients fell by two down to 148.

In the North Zone, 93 people are in hospital (down two), 18 of whom are in intensive care (up one).

There were two new deaths reported to Alberta Health from across the province over the last 24 hours, both of which occurred in Mackenzie County. There have been 2,108 deaths recorded in Alberta due to COVID-19 complications, 24 people have now died as a result of COVID-19 in Mackenzie County.

As of Friday, 1,846,554 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the province, with 54,242 of those doses being administered on May 7.

314,504 people have received two doses of the vaccine, meaning they are fully immunized.
