Construction on new road overlays and trail reconstruction throughout the City of Grande Prairie will begin on May 10.

The project kicks off the start of the City’s construction season.

Road Construction:

Road construction will begin on Pinnacle Drive between 112 Street and 108 Street and will include cold milling, concrete work, storm sewer infrastructure repairs, line painting and landscaping.

Workers will also continue construction of the mill and overlay project on 92 Street from 67 Avenue to south of 72 Avenue and on 68 Avenue between Resources Road and 86 Street.

During the construction, sidewalk access will be maintained, however, pedestrians should expect some disruptions.

Trail Construction:

Construction crews will begin trail rehabilitation on the west side of Resources Road between 88 Avenue and 68 Avenue, and on the north side of 68 Avenue between Resources Road and Poplar Drive. Work will include 300 metres of asphalt overlay and 2,200 metres of a complete replacement of the trail structure.

Crews will operate from Monday to Saturday at the construction sites and work is expected to be completed by mid-June.

Motorists are reminded to drive with caution throughout the construction zones. Any detours will be marked.
