Case of Saskatchewan Mountie charged with first-degree murder put over

May 13, 2021 | 11:22 AM

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. — The court case of a Saskatchewan Mountie accused of killing a 26-year-old man has been put over until later this month.

Cpl. Bernie Herman was charged with first-degree murder after police found a man’s body in a wooded area in Prince Albert.

The officer was serving with the Prince Albert Traffic Services Unit at the time of his arrest.

Police say the dead man, Braden Herman from Clearwater River Dene Nation, knew the officer but was not related to him.

Bernie Herman’s case is to be before the court again on May 26.

Braden Herman’s sister, DeeDee Herman, alleges that her brother had been harassed by the officer for the last two years — and that he was using his police powers to do so.
