Grande Prairie records 50 recoveries from COVID-19, 14 new cases

The City of Grande Prairie recorded 14 new cases of COVID-19 and 50 recoveries for Thursday, May 13, bringing the active case total in the City down by 36 to 416.

The County of Grande Prairie added six new cases and 20 recoveries for Thursday. There are now 131 active cases in the County.

Those new figures bring the City of Grande Prairie to a rate of 560.3 active cases per 100,000 population, while the County sits with a rate of 412.4 per 100,000. The provincial average sits at about 542.6 cases per 100,000, with 23,873 active cases in the province.

Across Alberta, there were 1,433 new cases identified following the completion of 15,029 tests, resulting in a 9.5 per cent test positivity rate.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day May 13 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,737 cases (416 active, 3,295 recovered, 26 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,298 cases (131 active, 1,162 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 560 cases (42 active, 514 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 30 cases (11 active, 19 recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 80 cases (three active, 77 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 26 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 144 cases (one active, 133 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 708 cases (28 active, 668 recovered, 12 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 357 cases (46 active, 311 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 664 cases (64 active, 600 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 128 cases (24 active, 103 recovered, one death)
  • Clear Hills County: 135 cases (two active, 132 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 306 cases (one active, 304 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 127 cases (12 active, 115 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,788 cases (212 active, 1,552 recovered, 24 deaths)

Across the province, hospitalizations decreased by nine to 713 as of Thursday night, while ICU patients held at 177.

In the North Zone, 97 people are in hospital (up two), 17 of whom are in intensive care (up one).

There were five new deaths reported to Alberta Health from across the province over the last 24 hours. A total of 2,137 Albertans have now died as a result of COVID-19.

As of Thursday, 2,086,589 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the province, with 66,876 of those doses being administered on May 13.

325,409 Albertans have been given their second dose and are fully immunized.

About 39.4 per cent of Alberta’s population has received at least one dose of the vaccine.
