City to hold engagement sessions for land-use planning projects

May 21, 2021 | 10:55 AM

The City of Grande Prairie is holding public engagement sessions surrounding land-use planning for two areas of the city next week.

On Tuesday, May 25, the city is holding two online information sessions for those who live in the Rural Service Area of the city.

At the sessions, at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., residents can learn about how the city is planning to accommodate the rural lands within the City’s Land Use Bylaw.

Currently, such lands are regulated by the County Land Use Bylaw as part of 2016 annexation agreements. The city says amendments to accommodate such land into the bylaw would include the addition of new uses, standards, and districts to the bylaw so that such properties maintain the same development rights.

Then on Wednesday, May 26, the city will be holding two more online information sessions for the final stage of public consultation on the College Park Area Redevelopment Plan. Those who attend will learn about the draft plan before it is presented to City Council.

The draft plan is based off consultation that occurred in 2019 and 2020.

Residents can sign up for the information sessions at the city’s engagement website.
