Grande Prairie records six new COVID-19 cases, four recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added six new cases of COVID-19 and four recoveries for Sunday, May 30, bringing the active case total in the City up by two to 91.

Seven new cases and no recoveries were recorded in the County of Grande Prairie for Sunday. There are now 53 active cases there.

There were 263 new cases of COVID-19 identified across Alberta following the completion of 4,411 tests, resulting in a 5.9 per cent test positivity rate.

Hospitalizations

Hospitalizations for COVID-19 in Alberta have decreased by seven to 439 as of Sunday night, while the number of ICU patients decreased by five to 133.

In the North Zone, 48 people are in hospital (up one), 12 of whom are in intensive care (unchanged).

Fatalities

There were eight new deaths reported to Alberta Health from across the province over the last 24 hours. A total of 2,227 Albertans have now died as a result of COVID-19 complications.

Vaccinations

The City of Grande Prairie now has 38.1 per cent of its population with at least one dose of vaccine. Another 227 people have been reported to have had their first shot, bringing the total number of people in Grande Prairie to get at least the first dose to 28,596.

In the County, 70 more people have been reported to have their first dose. In the east and west County region combined, 12,617 people have received at least one dose, equalling 37.3 per cent of the population.

Across Alberta, 21,701 doses were given out on Sunday, bringing the total number of Albertans who have received at least one dose of vaccine to 2,390,255 while a total of 2,781430 total doses have been administered.

That total means 53.5 per cent of Albertans are immunized with at least one dose, or 62.8 per cent of those aged 12+. Alberta Health adds 8.7 per cent of the population is fully vaccinated.
