Justice Minister not satisfied with Lethbridge Police Service’s improvement plan

LETHBRIDGE, AB – It appears that Alberta’s Justice Minister and Solicitor General is not pleased with the action plan presented to his ministry by the Lethbridge Police Service.

In March, Kaycee Madu ordered LPS to submit an improvement plan to address concerns around its operations.

The plan was sent to the justice department in April.

Now, it’s been revealed that Madu is disappointed in that plan, according to copies of letters obtained by the CBC.

The LPS has been ordered to send in a revised plan by June 25. In a statement to Lethbridge News Now, the LPS confirmed this news.

Lethbridge Police’s statement read that, “the Lethbridge Police Commission recently received a request from the Minister of Justice to provide additional information in relation to the action plan it had submitted earlier.”

“The Lethbridge Police Commission is in the process of working with the Lethbridge Police Service to provide that information, which included requests of the Commission which hadn’t been asked for previously.”

No further comment has been provided by LPS at this time.
