Grande Prairie adds 10 new COVID-19 cases, six recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added 10 new cases of COVID-19 and six recoveries for Wednesday, June 2, bringing the active case total in the City up by four to 76.

Four new cases and three recoveries were recorded in the County of Grande Prairie for Wednesday. There are now 54 active cases there.

There were 296 new cases of COVID-19 identified across Alberta following the completion of 6,808 tests, resulting in a 4.6 per cent test positivity rate.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of June 2 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,881 cases (76 active, 3,778 recovered, 27 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,385 cases (54 active, 1,326 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 583 cases (nine active, 570 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 30 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 81 cases (one active, 80 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 29 cases (one active, 28 recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 146 cases (one active, 135 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 711 cases (two active, 697 recovered, 12 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 360 cases (six active, 353 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Peace: 682 cases (15 active, 667 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 131 cases (one active, 128 recovered, two deaths)
  • Clear Hills County: 135 cases (134 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 313 cases (one active, 311 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 136 cases (one active, 135 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,882 cases (36 active, 1,820 recovered, 26 deaths)

Hospitalizations

Hospitalizations for COVID-19 in Alberta have decreased by 24 to 411 as of Wednesday night, while the number of ICU patients decreased by two to 120.

In the North Zone, 40 people are in hospital (down three), 11 of whom are in intensive care (down one).

Fatalities

There were five new deaths reported to Alberta Health from across the province over the last 24 hours. A total of 2,236 Albertans have now died as a result of COVID-19 complications.

Vaccinations

Across Alberta, 44,226 doses were given out on Wednesday, bringing the total number of Albertans who have received at least one dose of vaccine to 2,435,067, while 429,489 Albertans have received two doses.

Those totals mean 55 per cent of Albertans are immunized with at least one dose or 64.6 per cent of those aged 12+. Alberta Health adds 9.6 per cent of the population is fully vaccinated.
