The North Peace Navigators are off to the 2nd round of the North West Junior Hockey League playoffs.

They secured their spot in the league semi-finals with a 5-2 win in Game 5 of their best of five series against the Fairview Flyers.

Chaston Paul scored 1:42 into the opening frame for the Navs and the 4th seed never looked back as they held the lead for the rest of the game.

The win also marked the 1st win by a home team in the series between the two evenly matched teams.

The Navigators will now move on to the NWJHL 2nd round where they will meet either the Fort St.John Huskies or the Dawson Creek Jr.Canucks.

Who they will face will be determined following the other Game 5 in the 1st round between the JDA Kings and the Sundown Oilfield Services Sexsmith Vipers which will be played Thursday night at the County Sportsplex.

If the JDA Kings win, they would move on to face Dawson Creek and the Navs would get Fort St.John.

However, if the Vipers win, Sexsmith would face the top seeded Fort St.John Huskies and the Navigators would tangle with Dawson Creek.

Thursday’s crucial Game 5 between the Vipers and Kings is at 8:30 p.m. from the County Sportsplex.
