Grande Prairie adds seven new COVID-19 cases, four recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded seven new cases of COVID-19 and four recoveries for Thursday, June 10, bringing the city’s active case total up by three to 53.

One new case and two recoveries were added in the County of Grande Prairie, where there are now 40 active cases.

The new cases come as Alberta Health reported 170 new cases province-wide following the completion of 6,682 tests on June 10. Those tests resulted in a positivity rate of 2.5 per cent.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of June 10 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,912 cases (53 active, 3,830 recovered, 29 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,398 cases (40 active, 1,353 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 584 cases (three active, 577 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 32 cases (two active, 30 recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 81 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 31 cases (two active, 29 recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 147 cases (one active, 136 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 715 cases (five active, 698 recovered, 12 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 368 cases (11 active, 356 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Peace: 686 cases (eight active, 678 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 131 cases (129 recovered, two deaths)
  • Clear Hills County: 135 cases (134 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 310 cases (309 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 136 cases (all recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,911 cases (37 active, 1,848 recovered, 26 deaths)

Hospitalizations

Hospitalizations for COVID-19 in Alberta decreased by 10 to 296 as of Thursday night, while the number of ICU patients decreased by two to 79.

In the North Zone, 24 people are in hospital (down two), five of whom are in intensive care (up one).

Fatalities

Three new deaths were reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll from COVID-19 in the province to 2,265.

Vaccinations

All data is as of the end of day June 9. Alberta Health has not updated vaccination data from Thursday as of publication

In Grande Prairie, 50.2 per cent of all eligible residents have their first shot of vaccine, meaning 31,265 people have at least one dose. There are 5,708 people, or 9.2 per cent of those eligible, who have been fully vaccinated.

Across Alberta, the number of people who have received at least one dose of vaccine sits at 2,580,370, while 634,774 Albertans have received two doses.

Those totals mean 57.7 per cent of Albertans are immunized with at least one dose or 67.7 per cent of those aged 12+.

Alberta Health adds 14.2 per cent of the population (16.7 per cent of the 12+) have been fully vaccinated.
