County hosting annual Recycling Roundup at Clairmont Centre Saturday

Jun 11, 2021 | 4:37 PM

The County of Grande Prairie, in partnership with the Alberta Recycling Management Authority, will be hosting their annual Recycling Roundup at the Clairmont Centre on June 12.

Residents are encouraged to bring their household hazardous waste including cleaners, chemicals, paint, batteries, used oil, propane tanks under 100 lb, and tires; and electronics including computer equipment, TVs, cell phones, appliances, power tools, toys, audiovisual equipment and musical instruments to be recycled and/or safely disposed of free-of-charge.

The clean-up will be located north of Township Road 724 on Range Road 63, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All proceeds from refundable bottles brought in will go towards the County’s Bottle Donation Program.

“It is important that we all do our part to keep as many items as possible out of our landfills,” said Jennifer Besinger, County Technical Services Manager.

“There are so many programs available that make it easy to recycle and safely dispose of items like paint, tires, used oil, household hazardous material, and electronic waste. This event also provides an opportunity to find out more about our expanded electronic recycling program and get all the answers to all your recycling questions.”

Those who stop by with recyclables will also be eligible to win prizes. The County says it will be giving away prizes like a home composter or a gift basket.
