Grande Prairie adds six COVID-19 recoveries, four new cases

The City of Grande Prairie recorded four new cases of COVID-19 and six recoveries for Friday, June 11, bringing the city’s active case total down by two to 51.

Three new cases and no recoveries were added in the County of Grande Prairie, where there are now 43 active cases.

The new cases come as Alberta Health reported 179 new cases province-wide following the completion of 5,476 tests on June 11. Those tests resulted in a positivity rate of 3.3 per cent.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of June 11 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,916 cases (51 active, 3,836 recovered, 29 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,401 cases (43 active, 1,353 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 584 cases (two active, 578 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 32 cases (two active, 30 recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 81 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 31 cases (two active, 29 recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 147 cases (one active, 136 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 715 cases (five active, 698 recovered, 12 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 369 cases (12 active, 356 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Peace: 687 cases (nine active, 678 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 131 cases (129 recovered, two deaths)
  • Clear Hills County: 135 cases (134 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 310 cases (309 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 136 cases (all recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,915 cases (35 active, 1,854 recovered, 26 deaths)

Hospitalizations

Hospitalizations for COVID-19 in Alberta decreased by six to 290 as of Friday night, while the number of ICU patients decreased by five to 74.

In the North Zone, 25 people are in hospital (up one), seven of whom are in intensive care (up two).

Fatalities

Four new deaths were reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll from COVID-19 in the province to 2,269.

Vaccinations

In Grande Prairie, 50.9 per cent of all eligible residents have their first shot of vaccine, meaning 31,735 people 12 and older have at least one dose. There are 6,607 people, or 10.6 per cent of those eligible, who have been fully vaccinated.

Across Alberta, the number of people who have received at least one dose of vaccine sits at 2,607,713 while 729,137 Albertans have received two doses.

Those totals mean 58.3 per cent of Albertans are immunized with at least one dose, or 68.5 per cent of those aged 12+.

Alberta Health adds 19.2 per cent of the population (16.3+ per cent of those 12+) have been fully vaccinated.
