RCMP searching for man charged with attempted murder in Horse Lake shooting

Jun 15, 2021 | 2:34 PM

A Horse Lake man remains wanted on charges of attempted murder and several others by RCMP after an alleged shooting at Horse Lake First Nation over the weekend.

Beaverlodge RCMP were called to the community on June 12 to reports of an interaction between a suspect male and female, and a 27-year-old man. Police say that interaction led to shots being fired where the 27-year-old man suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. He was later treated in hospital and has since been released.

Meantime, authorities say the male and female suspects fled the home where the shooting occurred shortly after.

Police later located the female suspect, 23-year-old Stacey Horseman of Horse Lake, and charged her with attempted murder with a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and discharging a firearm with intent, among others.

She was remanded into custody following a judicial hearing and is set to appear in court on June 16 in Grande Prairie.

However, the male suspect, 32-year-old Harley Percy Ferguson of Horse Lake, has not been located by authorities and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

He is described as an Indigenous man, standing 5’10” tall, weighing 181 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes.

Ferguson is considered armed and dangerous, and if he is spotted the public is asked not to approach him and to instead call 911 immediately.

Anyone wishing to remain anonymous can report any sighting to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Ferguson is wanted on six charges, including attempted murder with a firearm, and failing to comply with a release order.
