Grande Prairie down to 42 active COVID-19 cases

The City of Grande Prairie recorded one new COVID-19 case and four recoveries for Tuesday, June 15, dropping the City’s active case total to 42.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were no new cases along with one recovery. There are now 27 active COVID-19 cases there.

There were 153 new COVID-19 cases added in Alberta on Tuesday, following the completion of 6,708 tests. Those tests had a positivity rate of 2.3 per cent.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of June 15 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,924 cases (42 active, 3,853 recovered, 29 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,404 cases (27 active, 1,372 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 590 cases (six active, 580 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 32 cases (two active, 30 recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 81 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 31 cases (one active, 30 recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 147 cases (137 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 714 cases (four active, 698 recovered, 12 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 373 cases (14 active, 358 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Peace: 689 cases (seven active, 682 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 131 cases (129 recovered, two deaths)
  • Clear Hills County: 135 cases (134 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 310 cases (309 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 136 cases (all recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,921 cases (38 active, 1,857 recovered, 26 deaths)

Hospitalizations

Hospitalizations for COVID-19 in Alberta decreased by 16 to 255 as of Tuesday night, while ICU patients decreased by one to 67.

In the North Zone, 32 people are in hospital (up one), six of whom are in the ICU (unchanged).

Fatalities

Four new deaths were reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll from COVID-19 in the province to 2,278.

Vaccinations

In Grande Prairie, 51.6 per cent of all eligible residents have their first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine, meaning 32,138 people 12 and older have at least one dose. There are 8,567 people, or 13.7 per cent of those eligible, who have been fully vaccinated.

Across Alberta, the number of people who have received at least one dose of vaccine sits at 2,654,840 while 878,594 Albertans have received two doses.

Those totals mean 59.4 per cent of Albertans are immunized with at least one dose, or 69.7 per cent of those aged 12+.

Alberta Health adds 19.6 per cent of the population (23.1 per cent of those 12+) have been fully vaccinated.
