Four new COVID-19 cases, two recoveries recorded in Grande Prairie

The City of Grande Prairie recorded four new COVID-19 cases and two recoveries for Saturday, June 19, raising the City’s active case total by two to 49.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there was one new case added. There are 24 active COVID-19 cases there.

There were 100 new COVID-19 cases added across Alberta on Saturday, following the completion of 4,878 tests. Those tests had a 2.1 per cent positivity rate.

Updated case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of June 19 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 3,944 cases (49 active, 3,866 recovered, 29 deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 1,408 cases (24 active, 1,379 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 592 cases (eight active, 580 recovered, four deaths)
  • Birch Hills County: 32 cases (two active, 30 recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 81 cases (all recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: 31 cases (all recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 147 cases (137 recovered, 10 deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 714 cases (one active, 701 recovered, 12 deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 373 cases (seven active, 365 recovered, one death)
  • M.D. of Peace: 689 cases (five active, 684 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 131 cases (129 recovered, two deaths)
  • Clear Hills County: 135 cases (134 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 312 cases (311 recovered, one death)
  • County of Northern Lights: 136 cases (all recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 1,925 cases (34 active, 1,865 recovered, 26 deaths)

Hospitalizations

Hospitalizations for COVID-19 in Alberta decreased by seven to 214 as of Friday night, while the number of ICU patients increased by four to 53.

In the North Zone, 24 people are in hospital (down two), five of whom are in the ICU (up one).

Fatalities

One new death was reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll from COVID-19 in the province to 2,290.

Vaccinations

In Grande Prairie, 52.5 per cent of all eligible residents have their first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine, meaning 32,729 people 12 and older have at least one dose.

A total of 11,266 people, or 18.1 per cent of those eligible, are fully vaccinated.

Across Alberta, the number of people who have received at least one dose of vaccine sits at 2,687,905, while 1,087,769 Albertans have received two doses.

Those totals mean 60.1 per cent of Albertans are immunized with at least one dose, or 70.6 per cent of those aged 12+.

Alberta Health adds 24.3 per cent of the population (28.6 per cent of those 12+) have been fully vaccinated.
