January 1, 1961 – June 12, 2021
Marney Nimmo resident of Grande Cache died on June 12, 2021, at the age of 60. A caring and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, Marney was born to Milton and Judith ‘Judy’ Munford (nee Sanders) in Calgary on January 1, 1961. She grew up in Calgary and Bentley and finished high school in Cold Lake.
Marney liked to camp with her family, play baseball, and enjoyed cooking. She was a valued employee at a Cold Lake moving company, and later worked at Lakeland Inn as a Cook.
She met her husband Brian while on a neighbourhood walk with her mother Judy, and they decided to help Brian weed his flowerbed. After a few months of dating, Brian proposed, and 3 months later they were married on July 1, 1989. Three years later they welcomed their daughter Cassandra into the world.
Marney was a devoted employee of the Grande Cache Recreation Center for 10+ years until 2020. While working there, she enjoyed being able to meet and help customers. She was considered the go-to person at the Rec Center, always willing to help or give advice.
She was a kind and welcoming person. You would often find her helping anyone out who asked for help and chatting with everyone. Marney always treated friends and acquaintances with kindness and compassion. She was a generous and warm-hearted person who cared for everyone. Marney was known for opening her heart and home to all those she loved, and sometimes even those she had just met. Marney was also a huge animal lover and would always welcome a pet to be part of the family.
Marney is survived by her husband Brian Nimmo, daughter Cassandra Nimmo, mother Judith Sanders, brothers Dave Munford and Cameron Munford, and surrogate daughters Cathy Colquhoun and Christine Colquhoun.
