Alberta has reached a new milestone in the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines.

As of the end of Thursday, June 25, Alberta Health Services (AHS) reports that 4,022,084 doses have been administered.

71.3 per cent of the population aged 12 or older has gotten at least one shot while 34.3 per cent are fully immunized.

“This tremendous achievement is made possible thanks to millions of people working together to ensure that COVID-19 no longer controls the lives of Albertans,” said Premier Jason Kenney.

“Thank you to every single Albertan who has made the right decision and got their vaccine shot. We will keep rolling out vaccines as we safely open for summer.”

In Grande Prairie a total of 33,184 people, or 53.2 per cent of those 12 and older, have been vaccinated with at least one dose. A total of 13,919 Grande Prairie residents have both doses, equating to 22.3 per cent of the eligible population.

Appointments for COVID-19 vaccines can be booked online here or by calling 811.

“Every dose administered provides more protection for you and the people around you,” adds Health Minister Tyler Shandro. “Vaccines are our best defence against COVID-19, and we need as many people as possible to get fully immunized as soon as possible. Get vaccinated and continue to protect each other by making safe choices to protect your health.”

Registration for the first draw of the Open for Summer Vaccine Lottery has now closed but people can still sign up for the second and third draws here.
