Select city facilities open Canada Day for residents looking to cool down

Select City of Grande Prairie facilities will be open to members of the public seeking a cool place to escape the heat on Canada Day, as the forecasted high is expected to be in the low 30s.

The city says the Ernie Radbourne Pavilion and Grande Prairie Museum will be open from noon to 5 p.m., the Eastlink Centre from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., and the Coca-Cola centre from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The City also reminds residents to take other health precautions during the heat wave to stay safe and healthy including wearing sunscreen and weather appropriate clothing, rescheduling outdoor activities to during cooler hours, taking frequent breaks from heat and staying hydrated.
