After a full week under such a warning, Environment Canada has lifted the heat warning for the Grande Prairie area.

The historic heat wave that led to the warning being issued brought with it record temperatures, with Grande Prairie surpassing its all-time daily temperature record three days in a row from Sunday to Tuesday.

June 29’s high reached the current all-time record of 41.5 degrees Celsius, beating the record set on June 28 at 38.4 degrees. June 27’s high reached 36.1 degrees.

Meanwhile, the severe thunderstorm watch issued Thursday and the special air quality statement issued earlier this week have also been lifted for the Grande Prairie area.
