RCMP looking for suspect after man assaulted at Sexsmith home

Grande Prairie RCMP are hoping the public can provide some assistance as they seek to identify a male suspect responsible for assaulting a 70-year-old male at his home in Sexsmith last weekend.

At around 11:00 p.m. June 26, RCMP say they responded to the report of the assault in the area of 98 Street and 101 Avenue.

Police say the victim was in his backyard when an unknown man entered the yard and assaulted the victim. The suspect then fled on foot towards 99 Street near 100 Avenue.

Authorities say the victim sustained serious, but non life threatening injuries in the assault.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man in his 50’s, standing approximately 6’0″, 200 lbs with a greyish/white beard. He was reportedly wearing a red t-shirt during the assault.
