One dead in off-highway vehicle roll-over near Gift Lake Metis Settlement

High Prairie RCMP says one person is dead after an off-highway vehicle rolled over in the area of Township Road 795 and Range Road 121a near Gift Lake Metis Settlement.

Mounties responded to the reported collision at around 9:20 p.m. on July 18. Whitefish First Nations Emergency Medical Services and Gift Lake Metis Settlement Fire Services were already on the scene providing first aid to a 61-year-old male when officers arrived.

The man, who authorities say was from East Prairie Metis Settlement, had been injured in the roll-over.

Despite efforts from first responders, the man succumbed to his injuries. He was declared deceased at the scene.

High Prairie RCMP and the RCMP Collision Reconstructionist are continuing to investigate the cause of the fatal collision .

The name of the deceased man will not be released, and the RCMP says no further updates in this case are expected to be announced.
