Wapiti Area Synergy Partnership holding annual open house Aug. 10

The Wapiti Area Synergy Partnership (WASP) is welcoming residents to its annual open house on August 10.

WASP Chair Richard Harris says the WASP Executive, industry members, and landowners will be at the event for residents to connect and learn more about ongoing oil and gas projects in the region.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect and educate yourself on the new and ongoing oil and gas projects in the west county and to find out more about our local Synergy Group,” says Harris.

WASP Facilitator and local landowner Holly Sorgen says the organization has been a great way for her to find out what’s been happening with oil and gas in the region.

“The WASP group is how I find out about new projects, connect with Industry to ask any questions I might have, and get a better understanding of the overall outlook for oil and gas in my area,” she says.

Industry and community displays for the will be at the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum on Tuesday for residents to view. Officials say keynote speakers from the Canada Energy Regulator will be on hand, as will members of the Peace Airshed Zone Association (PAZA) who will be speaking on air quality monitoring in the region.

The event, which is free of charge, runs from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on August 10. Residents can register for the event here.
