Grande Prairie adds 51 COVID-19 cases over last four days

The City of Grande Prairie recorded 51 new cases of COVID-19 between July 30 and August 2, bringing the city up to 84 active cases as of the end of day Monday.

This comes after there were three new cases recorded on Thursday, July 29, when the city sat at 33 active cases.

As for the County of Grande Prairie, there has been an increase of six new cases since July 28, which now has 11 active cases.

Over the last four days, there were 743 new cases identified in Alberta after over 21,000 tests were completed. There are now 2,176 active cases in the province.

Updated active case totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day August 2 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 84 active
  • County of Grande Prairie: 11 active
  • MD of Greenview: three active
  • MD of Spirit River: two active
  • MD of Peace: four active
  • MD of Fairview: two active
  • Big Lakes County: six active
  • Clear Hills County: one active
  • Mackenzie County: one active

Across the province, hospitalizations held at 90 over the weekend, though the number of ICU patients grew by three to 23.

In the North Zone, seven people are in hospital (unchanged), while one of those people is currently in intensive care.

There were no new deaths recorded in the province over the last four days. A total of 2,328 Albertans have died from COVID-19.

As of August 2, 76 per cent of eligible Albertans (those 12 and older) have received at least one dose of vaccine, while 65.8 per cent of eligible residents are fully vaccinated.

In the City of Grande Prairie, 57.5 per cent of eligible residents have their first dose, while 47.9 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
