Heat warning issued for Grande Prairie forecast area

Aug 4, 2021 | 3:34 PM

A heat warning has been issued for the Grande Prairie-Beaverlodge-Valleyview forecast area Wednesday afternoon.

The warning comes as Environment Canada says daytime highs around 29 degrees combined with overnight lows of 14 to 16 degrees are expected Wednesday and Thursday. Cooler temperatures and rain are then expected on the weekend.

The public is reminded to take precautions to protect themselves and others from the heat, like rescheduling outdoor activities to cooler hours of the day and take frequent breaks from the heat.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperatures are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
