July 3, 1925 – August 3, 2021
It is with heavy hearts we mournfully announce the peaceful passing of Alexander Bopp on Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021 at 96 years of age, surrounded by his loved ones. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Alex was born on July 3, 1925 in Speyer, Russia. He met his wife, Karoline Reinholz, at a coffee shop in Pincher Creek, Alberta and were married on August 27th, 1955. Alex and Karoline were happily married for almost 66 years and have been an outstanding example to all of us of what a loving marriage should look like.
Alex is survived by his wife Karoline, sons Ron (Viola) and Eric; granddaughters Amanda (Joel) and Nicole (Kyle); great granddaughter Brooke; and many extended family and friends. Alex was predeceased by his sisters, Elfie Kamlade and Vicki Gabriel.
Alex cherished his family and devoted his life to ensuring that they knew how much he loved them. He will be remembered for his kind and generous heart, with a smile that would light up any room. He also had a passion for fishing, spending time in nature, dancing, and singing German songs. Alex & Karoline became incredibly involved in the German Canadian Club after joining in 1962, which led to the development of countless life-long friendships and beloved memories.
We would like to extend our utmost gratitude to Dr. Richard Martin and the staff at Prairie Lake Seniors Community for the outstanding care that Alex received over the years.
A funeral will be celebrated at Faith Lutheran Church (9610-108 Ave, Grande Prairie, AB) on Monday August 9th at 11:30 am. Reception to follow at the church hall.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made online to the Alzheimer Society of Canada (www.support.alzheimer.ca).
