New name, same great hits

Q99 is now 98.9 Rewind Radio

Grande Prairie’s Q99 is now known as 98.9 Rewind Radio.

While the name for Grande Prairie’s greatest hits radio station is changing, Program Director and Morning Show host Tyler Wold says listeners will still hear the same great music they have come to expect and enjoy.

“Rewind will continue to bring you the best music, entertainment and information in the Peace Country,” said Wold. “Put simply, 98.9 Rewind Radio is the same great station with a brand-new name.”

Wold says the change came about following extensive renovations to the brand and listener experience.

He points to the streamlined music and contests like Mixtape Mania, which have garnered a lot of excitement and positive feedback.

“We needed a brand that better represented the energy of the radio station,” said Wold. “We found it with Rewind Radio.”

Besides playing the greatest hits from the ‘80s and ‘90s, 98.9 Rewind Radio will continue to be led by 25-year radio veteran and Peace Country local Tyler Wold on the Morning Show. The highly decorated radio voice of Charlee Morgan will continue on mid-days, while Mel will continue to host the afternoon drive.

Those personalities will be joined by Carla Rider, who comes to the team for the evening show from 6-10 p.m. weekdays.

Rewind is also very excited about their great feature programs like Retro Vault with Ara on Saturday afternoons from 3-6.

98.9 Rewind Radio will also continue to be served by EverythingGP, Grande Prairie and the Peace Region’s news leader, with up-to-the-minute news coverage seven days a week.

While Wold says these changes come with much enthusiasm and anticipation, he says the most exciting part of the rebrand is the return of the station’s signature Sweet Chicken and Rib Rub.

98.9 REWIND Radio can be heard at 98.9 FM and online at 989rewindradio.ca, the Rewind 98.9 app, the Radio Player Canada app or by asking your smart speaker to play 989 Rewind Radio Grande Prairie.

98.9 Rewind Radio is part of Pattison Media, which also operates EverythingGP and Big Country 93.1 FM.
