COVID-19 Testing

Alberta to continue COVID-19 testing past Sept. 27 deadline

Sep 7, 2021 | 6:18 AM

The Alberta government says COVID-19 testing for symptomatic people will continue past September 27.

Back in late July, Alberta’s chief medical officer of health announced a number of changes which would have seen widespread COVID-19 testing come to an end on August 16.

However, that shift was extending by six weeks as hospitalizations for COVID-19 in the province were about 62 per cent higher than provincial modelling estimated at that time.

Alberta Health also says the wastewater program, which studies the presence of COVID-19 in Alberta’s municipal wastewater systems, will also expand.
