St. Joe’s, Sexsmith top Football Alberta week one rankings
A pair of Grande Prairie area schools sit atop their respective provincial rankings to open the 2021 high school football season.
Football Alberta released its week one rankings over the weekend, with St Joseph’s Catholic High School coming in as the #1 ranked team in Tier II, while Sexsmith Secondary begins the season as the top ranked team in Tier IV.
The tiering system for Football Alberta is based on estimated school population, with Tier II being for schools with populations between 750 and 1,249. Tier IV is for schools with a population of 449 or less.
In Tier III (population between 450 and 749), Peace Wapiti Academy earned the #8 ranking to open the season, while Peace River came in at #10.
