PRSD back to school

Peace River School Division re-introduces mandatory mask mandate

Sep 7, 2021 | 3:19 PM

The Peace River School Division has updated its back-to-school plan, including a reintroduction of health regulations.

Starting September 8, a mandatory mask mandate will be in effect in shared areas for staff as well as students in Grades 4 through 12, as well as all students and staff while singing.

Masks will be strongly recommended, but not mandatory, for students in Kindergarten through Grade 3.

In a release, PRSD says that masks will not be required while the students are seated in a classroom although they will be supported if they choose to wear a mask.

The release also says that masks will not be required outside at recess.

Division officials say unique situations will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis in consultation with the Superintendent of Schools.
