Theodore (Ted) Andriatz
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Theodore (Ted) Andriatz on August 30, 2021, at the age of 85 years old, surrounded by family at his bedside. Ted was born in Willingdon, Alberta on Dec. 7, 1935.
Ted grew up on the family farm near Willingdon where he met his wife of 62 years, Gloria. Ted began his working career in Whitecourt, AB. for a short period of time where he taught grades 1-9. The next step in Ted’s career was working for the Canadian Bank of Commerce for 5 years where he worked in a number of locations including Willingdon, Smoky Lake, and Uranium City, Sask.
Ted’s loving concern for people was best demonstrated when he worked in the Public Trustee Office for the Government of Alberta. His public service career spanned 35 years working in Edmonton and Calgary before retiring in 1998.
In retirement, Ted had many hobbies and interests that included collecting very unique and fascinating memorabilia, wine making, and one of his favorite activities of visiting garage sales. However, Ted’s greatest pleasure was meeting people and telling them about his love for his God, Jehovah and the day when the pain of death will no longer exist (Rev 21:4).
One of the fondest memories everyone has of Ted is his generosity & hospitality, as well as his jokes and intriguing stories around the dinner table.
Ted is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Gloria Andriatz. Sons Derek Andriatz (wife Jane), Stirling Andriatz (wife Robin), Sean Andriatz (wife Shauna), and daughter Larissa Mastin (husband Aaron). Grandchildren Tyrell, Brandon, Austin, Isabella, Emma, and Gwenyth Andriatz and adopted spiritual granddaughter Noemi. Sister Anne Larson. Numerous relatives & dear friends in various congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses worldwide.
He was predeceased by his parents John & Mary Andriatz. Brother Mike Andriatz. Sisters Viola Andriatz, Helen Haynes, Victoria Buswell, and Olga Thorowsky.
A memorial service for Ted will be held on September 11, 2021, at 1:00 PM (MST) via Zoom Video Conference.
