Sep 9, 2021 | 4:10 PM

Grande Prairie RCMP say a child that was inside an SUV that was stolen on Sunday afternoon was not hurt.

The parked vehicle was taken from a spot near 101 Street and 97 Avenue around 4:30 p.m. on September 5.

Mounties say it was located by a witness a short time later near 65 Avenue and Poplar Drive. Police found the child still inside the SUV.

A witness also told police that a lone man ran away from that area on foot.

The RCMP Police Dog Service tried tracking the suspect but could not locate him.

Police say they have identified the suspect and the investigation continues.
