City of Grande Prairie adds 32nd COVID-19 death, 46 new cases

The City of Grande Prairie added its 32nd death from COVID-19 over the last 24 hours, along with 46 new cases and 38 recoveries. There are currently 484 active cases in the Swan City.

The death was one of 10 announced by Alberta Health over the last 24 hours.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were 13 new cases identified and 23 recoveries, bringing the total number of active cases there down to 160.

Across Alberta, the province added 1,473 new cases on 13,625 tests, resulting in a 10.8 per cent test positivity rate. There are currently 16,265 active cases in the province.

Active case totals, as of September 9 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 484 active (+7)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 160 active (-10)
  • MD of Greenview: 86 active (-5)
  • Birch Hills County: two active (-2)
  • MD of Spirit River: four active (-1)
  • Saddle Hills County: three active (-2)
  • MD of Peace: 100 active (+3)
  • MD of Fairview: 28 active (+2)
  • MD of Smoky River: 22 active (-)
  • Big Lakes County: 96 active (+1)
  • Clear Hills County: 13 active (+1)
  • County of Northern Lights: 48 active (+10)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 30 active (-1)
  • Mackenzie County: 136 active (+10)

Across Alberta, hospitalizations grew by seven to 686, while ICU patients grew from 154 to 169.

In the North Zone, hospitalizations sit at 77 (down one), while ICU patients grew to 11 (up two).

In Grande Prairie, 61.2 per cent of residents who are eligible (those aged 12 and up) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 53.1 per cent of the eligible population have been fully vaccinated.

In Alberta, 78.9 per cent of the eligible population have received one dose of the vaccine, while 70.9 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
