A Grande Prairie man has been charged after RCMP say they seized drugs during a traffic stop in the city early Monday morning.

RCMP say on September 6 at approximately 3:32 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle to conduct a driver documentation and sobriety check in the area of 116 Avenue and 105 Street.

As police investigated, officers learned the driver was wanted on three outstanding warrants for criminal code matters. Officers then arrested the driver.

Police say they then searched the man and his vehicle, and found what is believed to be 61 grams of cocaine, four grams of meth, small plastic baggies and other drug paraphernalia.

Police also seized $2,310 in Canadian cash.

Now, 33-year-old Nicholas Berry of Grande Prairie has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and failing to comply with a release order.

Following a judicial hearing, Berry was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on September 15.
