Grande Prairie adds 48 new COVID-19 cases, 40 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added 48 new cases of COVID-19 and 40 recoveries for Monday, September 13, raising the active case total in the city by eight to 497.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were 21 new cases identified and 17 recoveries, bringing the total number of active cases there up to 178.

Across Alberta, the province added 1,434 new cases on just over 11,800 tests, resulting in a 12.1 per cent test positivity rate. There are currently 18,265 active cases in the province.

Active case totals, as of September 13 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 497 active (+8)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 178 active (+4)
  • MD of Greenview: 78 active (-2)
  • Birch Hills County: three active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: 16 active (+3)
  • Saddle Hills County: five active (-)
  • MD of Peace: 118 active (+1)
  • MD of Fairview: 34 active (+1)
  • MD of Smoky River: 24 active (-1)
  • Big Lakes County: 102 active (+4)
  • Clear Hills County: 22 active (+2)
  • County of Northern Lights: 54 active (+5)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 27 active (-3)

Across Alberta, hospitalizations grew by 19 to 822, while the number of patients in the ICU grew by 14 to 212.

Of the 610 non-ICU COVID-19 patients, 448 are unvaccinated or only partially vaccinated. Of the 212 patients in ICU, 193 are unvaccinated or only partially vaccinated.

In the North Zone, hospitalizations sit at 85 (up three), while ICU patients dropped by one to 14.

There were nine deaths reported to Alberta Health over the last 2 hours, bringing the death toll from COVID-19 in the province to 2,471.

In Grande Prairie, 61.9 per cent of residents who are eligible (those aged 12 and up) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 53.6 per cent of the eligible population have been fully vaccinated.

In Alberta, 79.4 per cent of the eligible population have received one dose of the vaccine, while 71.3 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
