Wildfire danger level remains at moderate for Grande Prairie Forest Area

Sep 24, 2021 | 1:50 PM

The wildfire danger level for the Grande Prairie Forest Area has been listed as moderate by Alberta Wildfire.

Alberta Wildfires says that because of the cool forsty morning temperatures and breezy afternoons, fine fuels such as grass and fallen leaves are now becoming very dry.

Because of this, residents are being asked to be careful with all motorized equipment.

“A build-up of dry grass and vegetation around the exhaust and engine hot spots can smolder and fall off into dry grass starting a wildfire,” said Alberta Wildfire in a release.

Since Marc 1, there have been 100 wildfires that have burned nearly 132 hectares of land in the Grande Prairie Forest Area.
