Gordon passed away peacefully at home in Bear Canyon at the age of 89 years.
Gordon was born in Claresholm, Alberta to Louise and Barney Conrad. His family moved to New Westminster, BC when he was one year old, then moved to Red Deer when he was 11 where he spent his teen years. He then moved with his parents, his sister and 3 brothers to Bear Canyon in 1951 when he was 19 years old. It was in Bear Canyon that he met and married Joan, his wife of 51 years.
Gordon spent many years on a cat, clearing land and building roads in the area when he was young to help build the farm in the early years and later spent his life doing what he loved which was farming. He often said if he ever won the lottery, the only thing he would change is to buy newer equipment. His grandchildren loved taking meals to him in the field and riding around the field with Grandpa in a tractor or combine. He loved visiting with family, friends and neighbors and usually had a young child bouncing on his knee or spinning them on the floor. Many other things he loved included: checking crops, dancing, downhill skiing, and pulling the kids on the sleds or skis behind the tractor or quad.
He leaves to mourn his wife Joan, his son Darin (Allen), his daughters Shyla (Lundi), Rhonda (Tim), Yvonne (Charlie), and Pam (Duane), his grandchildren Brandy (Tyson), Brittany (Dustin), Melanie (Todd), Hailey, Brendon (Sierra), Kylee, Myranda, Shelby (Mike), Colton (Destinee), Zack, Dallen, Bryce, Carter and Tegan, his great grandchildren Nathan & Caiden, Greyson, Madison, Ryker, Hunter, Peyton, Brecken, Piper and Zaleigh. He is also survived by his brothers Don (Lois) and Doug and sister-in-law Shirley as well as many nieces and nephews.
Gordon was predeceased by his father Barney, mother Louise, sister Bernice, brother Hugh and niece Debbie Anne.
A Celebration of Life for Gordon will be held at a later date.
