Noel Keerthikumar, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021, in Grande Prairie, at the age of 58 years.
Noel was born in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka, on December 12, 1962. He was raised in Batticaloa until he moved to Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, at the age of 12. At the age of 15, Noel was imprisoned and tortured during the Country’s civil unrest for 2 years. At the age of 17, he fled with friends to India. Eleven years later, he met the love of his life Ranjini, who had fled Sri Lanka as well. In India, Noel was unjustly imprisoned until Ranjini lobbied for his release. The young couple then fled to Bangaladesh, from there they came to Canada.
We will remember Noel for his friendly nature, and his deep faith and optimism. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Cursillo Community. Noel enjoyed the company of his co-workers at PhoneCo (and at Costco), for 12 years.
Prior to his retirement, Noel enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was always tinkering, or fixing something, and could make something out of nothing. After retirement, he enjoyed at home visits.
Noel will be sadly missed by his wife Ranjini Keerthikumar; their dog Spotty, and cat Rocky. He is mourned by his mother; two brothers; as well as numerous friends and co-workers.
