October 13, 1928 – October 10, 2021
It is with great sadness that the family share the peaceful passing of Karoline (Karola) Bopp on Sunday, October 10th, 2021, at 92 years of age. Karola will always be remembered for being a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Karola had the most generous and giving heart, who always cherished time spent with her family and friends.
Karola was born in Poland on October 13th, 1928. She met the love of her life, Alex Bopp, while working at a coffee shop in Pincher Creek. They were married on August 27th, 1955 and enjoyed nearly 66 wonderful years together.
Karola is survived by her sister Olga Fergin, sons Ron (Viola) and Eric; granddaughters Amanda (Joel) and Nicole (Kyle); great granddaughter Brooke; nephew Don; and many extended family and friends. Karola was predeceased by her husband, Alex.
Karola’s family were her absolute pride and joy, always putting their needs before her own. Karola was also quite the social butterfly, and enjoyed being an incredible host, which always included her famous cooking. She took great pleasure chatting over coffee and playing card games with their friends. For many years, Karola was an active member of the German Choir as well as the German Canadian Club and would light up the dance floor with Alex at their countless social gatherings.
We would like to extend our utmost gratitude to Dr. Richard Martin, the staff at Prairie Lake Seniors Community and Bernandita Bancale for the outstanding care that Karola received over the years.
A funeral will be celebrated at the Faith Lutheran Church in Grande Prairie on Saturday, October 16th at 11:30 am. Due to Covid restrictions, the funeral service will be limited to invitation only. Alternatively, there will be a live stream available. Following Karoline’s service, those in attendance and those unable to attend her church service are invited to join the family around 1:00pm at the JP Events Centre (formerly Jackpot Restaurant) for a time of fellowship and to share memories of Karoline.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made online to the Alzheimer Society of Canada (www.alzheimer.ca).
