Grande Prairie adds 33 new COVID-19 cases, 42 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded 33 new cases of COVID-19 and 42 recoveries for Thursday, October 14, bringing the active case total in the Swan City down to 288.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were 19 new cases and seven recoveries recorded Thursday. There are now 130 active COVID-19 cases there.

As a whole, Alberta added 1,051 new cases following the completion of 14,054 tests on Thursday, resulting in a 7.48 per cent positivity rate.

Active case totals, as of October 14 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 288 active (-9)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 130 active (+12)
  • MD of Greenview: 74 active (-8)
  • Birch Hills County: Four active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: 19 active (+2)
  • Saddle Hills County: 28 active (+1)
  • MD of Peace: 76 active (-2)
  • MD of Fairview: 33 active (-8)
  • MD of Smoky River: 32 active (-2)
  • Big Lakes County: 104 active (+5)
  • Clear Hills County: Five active (-1)
  • County of Northern Lights: 41 active (-)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 27 active (+1)
  • Mackenzie County: 213 active (+45)

Across the province, hospitalizations dropped by 16 to 1,000, while the number of ICU patients dropped by two to 229.

Of those admitted into intensive care with COVID-19, 193 are unvaccinated, 11 are partially vaccinated, and 20 are fully vaccinated.

In the North Zone, there are 158 people in the hospital (same), while 17 people are in the ICU (up three).

There were 16 deaths reported to Alberta Health as a result of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the province’s death toll up to 2,946.

In Grande Prairie 70.2 per cent of people who are eligible have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (58.2 per cent of the total population), while 59.6 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated (49.5 per cent of the total population).

In Alberta, 85.8 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 76.7 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
