Two incumbents, three newcomers elected to County of Grande Prairie Council

The two incumbent councillors facing challengers in the County of Grande Prairie both won re-election.

In Division 5, Bob Marshall finished with 225 votes compared to 152 for Robert Hill and 125 for Kevin Gingles.

In Division 8, Karen Rosvold finished with 350 votes with challenger Cheryl Van Eerden garnering 120.

Kurt Balderston won Division 2 with 497 votes compared to 232 for Darcy Karbashewski, 160 for Talbot Rycroft and 133 for Thomas Tharp.

Steve Zimmerman took Division 4 with 335 votes. Maurissa Hietland had 266 and Calvin Maple 128.

Bob Chrenek is the new councillor n Division 9 after getting 264 votes. Sheryle Runhart was second with 178, then came Pam Badger with 111 and Dwayne Badry with 71.

Amanda Frayn in Division 1, Leanne Beaupre (incumbent) in Division 3, Peter Harris (incumbent) in Division 6 and Brian Petersen in Division 7 were elected by acclamation.

Like city council, county council will also include five people who were not on council during the last term.
