Grande Prairie records 35 COVID-19 recoveries, two new cases added

The City of Grande Prairie added just two new COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours, along with 35 recoveries, bringing the active case total in the city down to 244.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were three new cases and 24 recoveries recorded on Tuesday. There are 110 active COVID-19 cases in that region.

As a whole, Alberta added 531 new cases following the completion of 8,030 tests over the last 24 hours, resulting in a 6.7 per cent positivity rate.

Active case totals, as of October 18 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 244 active (-33)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 110 active (-21)
  • MD of Greenview: 51 active (-12)
  • Birch Hills County: Six active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: 15 active (-4)
  • Saddle Hills County: 21 active (-3)
  • MD of Peace: 85 active (+3)
  • MD of Fairview: 28 active (-3)
  • MD of Smoky River: 23 active (-)
  • Big Lakes County: 124 active (+20)
  • Clear Hills County: Seven active (+2)
  • County of Northern Lights: 33 active (-4)

Across the province, hospitalizations dropped by 17 to 964, while the number of ICU patients dropped by seven to 218.

Of those admitted to intensive care, 185 are unvaccinated, 10 are partially vaccinated, and 21 are fully vaccinated.

In the North Zone, there are 153 people in the hospital (down, two), while 15 people are in the ICU (down, one).

There were 12 new deaths linked to COVID-19 reported to Alberta Health on Monday, bringing the province’s death toll up to 2,988.

In Grande Prairie, 70.6 per cent of people who are eligible have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (58.6 per cent of the total population), while 60.7 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated (50.4 per cent of the total population).

In Alberta, 86.1 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 77.6 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
