It is with heavy hearts, we mournfully announce the passing of Basil Dombroskie at the Prairie Lake Hospice in Grande Prairie, Alberta on October 14,2021 at the age of 68 years.
Basil was born in Barry’s Bay, Ontario. He and his wife moved to Grande Prairie in 1991 from Crown Point, Ontario – just outside of Ottawa.
Basil leaves behind Lise, his wife of 44 years. He is the eldest son of predeceased Ambrose and Lucy Dombroskie of Barry’s Bay. His sisters Patsy and Audrey, and his brother Michael and Louis will always keep him in their hearts.
Basil loved gardening and working with wood. For several years his wooden toys were the rage at the GP Farmers Market. He also dabbed in acrylic painting. He loved old rock and roll music. He was a through and through Toronto Maple Leaf and Argonauts fan.
Basil loved working as a machine operator. He will be missed by his friends and co-workers at QuadL. He always loved seeing wildlife and he saw plenty over the years.
His wife would like to thank Dr. Ojodun, Dr. Moreau, Dr. Barreth, Tanya Smith (our guardian angel) and all the staff at the Prairie Lake Hospice and at the Grande Prairie Cancer Centre for their outstanding and compassionate care for Basil. Words cannot express my gratitude.
Donations in memory of Basil may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
