Storm fall to MOB to open two-game road swing

Oct 27, 2021 | 8:04 AM

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons hot start to the season continued on Tuesday night, as they knocked off the Grande Prairie Storm 7-3.

The MOB opened the scoring just 53 seconds into the game, with Brandon Sachetti netting his seventh goal of the season.

Grande Prairie responded quickly after the goal as Jaydon Merritt registered his first AJHL goal to tie things at 1-1 just 30 seconds later.

Unfortunately for the Storm, the 1-1 tie would be as close as they would come. The Oil Barons would score four more goals in the first period and take a 5-2 lead into the first intermission.

Jack Budd would add the additional goal for the Storm in the first period.

Storm forward Nathaniel Bierd would register the only goal in the second frame.

The Oil Barons would put up two more goals in the third to walk away with the 7-3 victory.

The Storm will look to snap their losing skid on Wednesday, as they continue their road trip in Bonnyville. Game time is 7:00 and can be streamed on HockeyTV.
