Grande Prairie adds nine new COVID-19 cases, 12 recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie added nine new cases of COVID-19 and 12 recoveries for Monday, November 8, bringing the active case total in the Swan City down to 116.

In the County of Grande Prairie, there were seven new cases and six recoveries reported for Monday, bringing the active case total to 55.

As a whole, Alberta added 422 new cases following the completion of 8,330 tests, resulting in a 5 per cent positivity rate.

Active case totals, as of November 8 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 116 active (-3)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 55 active (+1)
  • MD of Greenview: 16 active (-)
  • Birch Hills County: three active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: four active (-1)
  • Saddle Hills County: nine active (+1)
  • MD of Peace: 28 active (-4)
  • MD of Fairview: six active (-1)
  • MD of Smoky River: five active (-)
  • Big Lakes County: 48 active (-10)
  • Clear Hills County: four active (-)
  • County of Northern Lights: 13 active (+2)
  • Northern Sunrise County: six active (+1)
  • Mackenzie County: 121 active (-12)

Across the province, hospitalizations held firm at 608, while the number of ICU patients went down by seven to 128.

Of those admitted into intensive care with COVID-19, 102 are unvaccinated and 18 are fully vaccinated.

In the North Zone, 90 people are in hospital (down one), while eight people are in the ICU (unchanged).

Four deaths from COVID-19 were reported to Alberta Health over the last 24 hours, raising the provincial death toll to 3,159.

In Grande Prairie, 72.7 per cent of people who are eligible have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (60.3 per cent of the total population), while 65.8 per cent of the eligible population has been fully vaccinated (54.5 per cent of the total population).

In Alberta, 87.6 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 81.4 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
